Moving Forward: DEI Update April 2021
We are grateful to have had several months working with Aisha Adams, who recently shared the results of Equity Audits of our policies, procedures, programs, digital footprint, and physical space. One note to share – we found that many of our policies and procedures contained vague expectations rather than understandable and transparent specifics. There are a lot of changes that we will need to make over the months and years.
Some of the immediate changes we are making as a result of our Equity Audits:
- Reworking our hiring practices, starting with our summer camp positions, to include transparency in salary and open application process. We will also be reworking hiring practices for our artistic teams for our upcoming season.
- Reworking our website to be ADA compliant.
Our Board and Staff are beginning a months-long journey with alexandria ravenel and david greenson with Collaborative Organizing. We are working together to understand and address the racial inequity – and other forms of inequity – embedded in our organization in order to shift our organizational culture.
Community is literally our middle name, and we are dedicating time and resources to live up to that.
