Elf The Musical – Director’s Notes

For every Mainstage Season show, we ask the director to share their thoughts, inspirations, or research about the show. We include these notes in the playbill, but why wait to read until you’re sitting in the theatre? It’s a great way to get into the show before you see it!

Elf The Musical is sold out, but check for canceled tickets that become available here: Elf The Musical

Director’s Notes by Jeff Catanese

I am still overwhelmed and very heartened by the number of people returning to the theater now. It’s a testament to one of the values that the holiday season is meant to espouse: sharing. Although sharing is often used in terms of material goods, the best kind of sharing, in my opinion, is the shared experience. We sit in the dark and laugh and cry and wonder, but we do it together. And of the same thinking that Buddy the Elf does, that’s what Christmas is all about. So follow our cast’s lead: The best way to spread Christmas cheer is by singing loud for all to hear!

Short and sweet 🙂 We hope you have tickets to see this spectacular show. Enjoy!
