Edwin Salas Acosta (México–Costa Rica, 1974) is a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of puppetry, performance, toy art, and digital media. For more than 25 years he has created and performed works in Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, Poland, Mexico, Cuba, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Belize, Guatemala, the United States, and Taiwan. His repertoire includes daring and politically charged pieces such as Seven Deadly Sins in the Border, Maya Genocide, and Dracula Killed My Mom—the latter awarded at the Fringe Festival in 2020.

Beyond puppetry, Edwin builds art toys from wood and recycled materials, exhibited at DesignerCon, La Luz de Jesus (Los Angeles), and Galería F (Chicago). His work often fuses dark humor with horror pop aesthetics, reflecting on borders, violence, and cultural memory.

Now based in Asheville, North Carolina, Edwin continues to expand his practice into multimedia and VR installations, most recently as a McCullough Fellow with the Asheville Art Museum. At fifty, he pursues a BA in New Media at the University of North Carolina, while creating toy lines, block prints, and hybrid performances that challenge audiences through satire, ritual, and provocation.
