ENSEMBLE
All ages, all vocal types.
The residents of Arendelle who bring the story to life – including townspeople, staff, guards, hidden folk, Oaken’s family and friends, and more!

ELSA
Character Age:
18-30s
Born with magical powers that she struggles to control, Elsa’s fear of hurting others pushes her to hide from the world and distance herself from the people she loves most. Underneath all of the fear is a strong, determined leader, waiting for just enough warmth to step out of hiding and take her rightful place on the throne. This is a physically and vocally demanding role for a strong musical theatre belter. Vocal range top: Eb5 – Vocal range bottom: E3.

ANNA
Character Age: 18-30s
Spunky, joyful, and charming, Anna defies social decorum and rules in favor of spreading her optimism and light throughout the Kingdom. She loves easily, but feels the rejection of her only sister deeply. She might not have the magical powers that Elsa wields, but her inner strength and resolve is equally fierce. This is a physically and vocally demanding role for a strong musical theatre belter. Vocal range top: E5 – Vocal range bottom: G3.

KRISTOFF
Character Age: 18-30s
His sarcastic exterior hides a man with a big heart and a solid sense of right and wrong. Although he is a bit of a loner, Kristoff has developed a personal relationship with his reindeer, Sven, who has been known to intervene when Kristoff’s stubbornness gets in the way of his best interests. Kirstoff was raised by the Hidden Folk, so he doesn’t always know the rules of polite society, and doesn’t really care to learn. This is a baritone role with some singing, but mostly needs to be a strong actor! Vocal range top: Bb4 – Vocal range bottom: A2.

HANS
Character Age: 18-30s
As the ambitious 13th son of a king, Hans is always on the lookout for opportunities to make a name for himself. He is charming, handsome, and extremely good at reading people – all of which he uses to achieve his own personal goals. This is a baritone role with some singing, but mostly needs to be a strong actor! Vocal range top: A4 – Vocal range bottom: A2.

OLAF
Character Age: Any
A little nice, a little naughty, with a big, round belly and a big, bouncy butt, Olaf is a loyal friend who loves summer… and warm hugs. He is joy, personified, and although he might not seem like the brightest toy in the toybox, he usually manages to be the most observant and insightful being in the room! Olaf has one big song in the tenor or alto range, and must be an actor with incredible comedic instincts. The actor playing Olaf will be manipulating an Olaf puppet, similar to the portrayal in the original Broadway production. This actor will need to have strong vocal characterization, as well as the ability to bring a puppet to life! “In Summer” (Alto Key): E3 – Eb5 “In Summer” (Tenor Key): B2 – Bb4.

OAKEN
Character Age: 30s-50s
A good natured salesperson, true Hygge believer, and head of a very large family! Sings the big Act Two opening number with joyful abandon! Vocal range top: Bb4 – Vocal range bottom: A2.

WESLETON
Character Age: 30s-60s
Weasleton? No Wesleton! A Duke with a clear inferiority complex and the desire to climb the social ladder using whatever means are available to him. A comedic role for an actor with excellent comic timing and no fear of making a total fool of himself for our entertainment. Vocal range top: A4 – Vocal range bottom: F3

BULDA
Character Age: 30s-50s
The matriarch of the Hidden Folk. Wields magical powers and recognizes magic in others. Loves Kristoff, and has a connection with the royal family of Arendelle, but chooses to live in a magical “in between” land outside the reach of humans. This role sings in a Mezzo-Soprano range. Vocal range top: D5 – Vocal range bottom: Bb3.

PABBIE
Character Age: 30s-50s
The patriarch of the Hidden Folk. Wields magical powers and recognizes magic in others. Loves Kristoff, and has a connection with the royal family of Arendelle, but chooses to live in a magical “in between” land outside the reach of humans. This role sings in a Baritone range. Vocal range top: Gb4 – Vocal range bottom: Ab2.

QUEEN IDUNA

The rulers of Arandelle and parents of Elsa and Anna. They love their daughters and their kingdom, and will risk everything to keep their children and their people safe.Vocal range top: E5
Vocal range bottom: F3

KING AGNAAR
Character Age: 30s-50s
The rulers of Arandelle and parents of Elsa and Anna. They love their daughters and their kingdom, and will risk everything to keep their children and their people safe. Vocal range top: C4- Vocal range bottom: B2.

YOUNG ELSA
Character Age: 8-12
Even in Elsa’s younger days, we see her calm, cool personality and desire to live up to the expectations of her sister, parents, and the kingdom. She is initially delighted by her powers, but comes to fear them when she realizes the harm she could cause to the people she loves. Vocal range top: E5 – Vocal range bottom: A3.

YOUNG ANNA
Character Age: 8-12
Anna exudes joy and excitement in every moment. She is delighted by life, and adores her older sister! Unlike Elsa, she doesn’t seem to feel the pressure of the expectations on a princess, but instead makes friends with literally anyone who comes across her path. Vocal range top: E5 – Vocal range bottom: Bb3.

SVEN
Character Age: Any
We don’t get much of Sven’s backstory, but we do know that he is incredibly loyal to Kristoff, and has definitely adopted some of Kristoff’s brusque sarcasm. That loyalty includes protecting him from physical harm – but also stepping in when Kristoff is making a bad choice. He is generally standoffish around new people, but if you make it into his inner circle, he is your friend for life.  The actor playing Sven will be manipulating a “Sven Suit” that requires significant physical strength, stamina, and flexibility. Sven does not have any spoken dialogue or sung music, but he DOES make vocalizations throughout the show. Actors ONLY interested in the role of Sven do NOT need to sing at the initial auditions, but should prepare the dance portion and let the audition table know that you are only auditioning for Sven.
