A note from Susan Harper
If there was one lesson hammered home over the last 18 months, it is that life is unpredictable. Who could have imagined this last year? In keeping with all the changes that last year brought, my life has taken a totally unpredicted turn which is both a surprise and at the same time very exciting. After all these years at ACT, over 300 productions large and small, thousands of children, thousands of volunteers and hundreds of thousands of audience members, I am retiring! My last day will be Friday, October 8.
The stars aligned this fall in a way that made me feel the time was absolutely right. And we all know that my retirement is possible because of the strength of the team leading ACT forward. As I leave, the mainstage is opening again and staff and board are deep into an equity journey that may well be the most important work ever done at ACT.
I leave feeling happy and fulfilled by the work we have done together. There have been too many electrifying and deeply meaningful moments to count. I am so lucky to have spent my career in the arts! Backstage, on stage, in the audience, working with volunteers, staff and board members – ACT is all about community and connection. I leave feeling so thankful to have connected with you.
This is a promise – I will see you at the theatre. I will be in the audience!
With gratitude,
Susan Harper, Executive Director
