Puttin’ on the Britt and How to Slay
Performance
Brittney Mack brings her one woman show, Puttin’ on the Britt with a live band, for an evening of songs and stories filled with warmth, humor, and heart. It is a chance to sit together, listen together, and enjoy the voice and spirit of the original Anne of Cleves from Broadway’s SIX.
Workshop
Brittney will also lead her workshop, How to Slay, created to help performers stand a little taller, take up space with confidence, and bring their whole selves into the work. Volunteers and students are invited to learn in a setting that is kind, encouraging, and supportive.
Bio
The Queendom calls her “The Queen of the Castle” for her breakout roll as the original Anne of Cleves in Broadway’s SIX the Musical. She is a Grammy Nominee, Drama Desk Winner and two-time Drama League Nominee for Distinguished Performance. Tour: Memphis (Networks). Broadway Cabaret and Workshops
Performance
Kerry Butler joins ACT for a Broadway Cabaret that brings Broadway songs and stories into the same space as our local performers. Together they will share an evening of music that feels welcoming, joyful, and full of heart.
Workshops
Kerry will also spend time teaching and cheering on the next generation of performers.
Creating a Character (Youth) invites young people to play, imagine, and gently stretch their skills as they build characters from the inside out.
Acting Through Song (Adults) offers practical tools for connecting honestly to a song and sharing that story with an audience.
Bio
Acclaimed veteran of a dozen Broadway shows, She has originated roles in Broadway productions of Beetlejuice, Mean Girls (Outer Critics Circle nomination), Xanadu (Tony and Drama League nominations), Little Shop of Horrors (Outer Critics Nomination), Catch Me If You Can (Drama Desk Nomination), and Hairspray (Clarence Derwent Award for most promising female performance, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Nominations). She also starred in Rock of Ages, Disaster!, The Best Man , Les Miserables on Broadway . Notable off-Broadway include the cult hit Bat Boy and Clinton: The Musical, in which she portrayed Hillary Rodham Clinton. “East Street” ACT’s Spring Fundraiser and Workshops
Performance
Ben Cameron returns to ACT for Easy Street, our spring fundraiser, joined by to be announced Broadway friend. Together they will share songs, stories, and plenty of good humor, inviting everyone in the room to feel like part of the theatre family.
Workshops
Ben will also lead workshop time for both youth and adults. With his background as a performer and host, he helps participants feel at ease, celebrate their inner theatre kid, and learn practical tools they can carry into future auditions, rehearsals, and performances.
Bio
Ben is a Broadway veteran who appeared in the original Broadway casts of Footloose, Aida, and a little show called Wicked .If you listen to the second track of the Wicked cast album, you can hear Ben drop the pivotal plot line, “Glinda, Is it true your were her friend?” (Feel free to applaud wildly into your computer screen).
Ben has toured the US and Europe in productions of Footloose, Fame, The Who’s Tommy, State Fair and Sweet Charity (starring opposite Molly Ringwald–and yes, she’s as good a kisser and you had hoped). He’s also appeared on cast albums of Footloose andReach the Sky: The Music of Bobby Cronin, singing “Dance Your Troubles Away” (a song written for him by Mr. Cronin).
After hanging up his dance belt , Ben rallied his “theatre geekdom” and created Broadway Sessions. Now in it’s 13thseason (!), Sessions brings Broadway’s brightest every other week at the The Laurie Beechman Theatre. Since creating Sessions, Ben has become one of the theatre community’s most beloved hosts and personalities. As host of Mostly Sondheim at The Duplex for 5 years, he received three MAC nomination. He’s hosted countless concerts, benefits and events: BC/EFA’s Flea Market Celebrity Autograph Table, Rockers on Broadway, Living For Today, Broadway at The W, NYMF ASCAP/BMI Meet the Composers, Onstage NY Talent Competitions, New York City Dance Alliance National Season Finales (multiple years), The Broken Leg Podcast w/ Tony winner Lena Hall and (drumroll please), Broadway Sessions Beach Party on Fire Island, and, in 2016-2017, Roadway Con (the ultimate Broadway fan experience).
