Tanglewood Turns 60

Can you believe that Tanglewood Youth Theatre is turning 60?! The first Tanglewood production was The Ghost of Mr. Penny. It was performed in November 1959 at the North Asheville library, had a cast of 8, and was directed by John Haber.
John Haber planted seeds with Tanglewood that continue to grow in Asheville; Tanglewood has always empowered children to have fun and be creative, collaborative, hardworking, and responsible. And 60 years later, the programming at ACT that carries the Tanglewood name is thriving!
Thousands of children have participated in Tanglewood from 1959 on (with John Haber, at UNCA, at ACT) and we’re inviting whoever can come to join us for a reunion to celebrate 60 years of creativity, connection, and FUN.

2:30 pm – Let Us Entertain You: Join us for a matinee performance of Asheville Community Theatre’s The Wizard of Oz.
5:00 pm – Reconnect Reception: Post-performance in the ACT lobby; light bites with beer, wine, soft drinks
