Sea Song is the story of a city boy who spends the summer with his grandmother at a remote beach cottage away from tv and computers. Finding his grandmother’s childhood photo album, the boy discovers her interest in sea turtles. Over his summer visit he gets to experiences them himself as he witnesses their life cycle first hand. Sea Song is a non verbal piece accompanied by a subtle melodic instrument called a hang drum. The story is told through both shadow puppetry and table top rod puppetry. The story is set on a beach but the whole theater becomes the sea as the puppets frequently enter the audience.
