It is 1939, and in Europe, the Nazis have begun rounding up Jews. In Atlanta, the posh German-Jewish community — including the Freitag family with two daughters — is preparing for Ballyhoo, the annual ball where young people can meet suitable future spouses. When Uncle Adolph brings home his new employee, a Brooklyn bachelor with an Eastern European background, a series of unexpected events transpires. This Tony Award winning play is comedic, romantic and deeply touching, as characters confront their prejudices, beliefs and identities.
