This past year marked the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. An estimated 250,000 veterans from that conflict still live with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), many now attempting to finally reconcile with the wounds they still carry. As a nation, we have a moral obligation to the recovery and healing of these men, as we do all who serve.
The issues that defined the war, the nation during that time, and most importantly the soldiers who fought it, will be freshly spotlighted by The Vietnam War, a documentary by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, which will premiere, on PBS, beginning September 17th.
Asheville Community Theatre is pleased to present a reprise of Brothers Like These, a staged reading of prose and poetry produced by the creative writing program for Vietnam veterans at the Charles George VA Medical Center. These stories of selfless service and unimaginable courage unite us in our shared humanity.
The performance is free. However, reservations are required. A reception will follow.
