World Premiere Comedy 'Til Beth Do Us Part

Opens at Asheville Community Theatre

Asheville Community Theatre will open the World Premiere comedy ‘Til Beth Do Us Part on Friday, July 3 at 8:00 pm.  This World Premiere is the newest comedy from Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, Playwrights-in-Residence at Asheville Community Theatre and the authors of the wildly successful Dearly Beloved, Christmas Belles, Southern Hospitality and The Dixie Swim Club.   Performances will run for three weekends through July 19, 2009 and are held on Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 pm.  Asheville Community Theatre is located at 35 E. Walnut St. in downtown Asheville.  There will be no performance on Saturday, July 4.

'Til Beth Do Us Part is a hilarious look at a marriage turned upside down. Gibby and Suzannah Hayden have been together twenty-seven years when another woman, Suzannah's new assistant, Beth, enters the picture and wreaks havoc on their lives. Surprisingly, Beth isn't after Suzannah's husband; she wants her career. And this Southern-fried Mary Poppins from Hell will stop at nothing to achieve her goal, with outrageous and side-splitting results.

Three special events are planned during the opening weekend of ‘Til Beth Do Us Part.  The Opening Night Champagne Reception begins at 7:30 pm on Friday, July 3

and will feature complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a glass of bubbly prior to curtain.  Sunday, July 5 will feature sweets donated from a local baker or chocolatier before the show, and a talk-back session featuring the director, playwrights, and cast immediately after the show.  All ‘Til Beth Do Us Part special events are included in the price of a ticket.

‘Til Beth Do Us Part is directed by Jessie Jones (also the co-playwright). ‘Til Beth Do Us Part stars ACT veterans Joan Atwood, Roger Magendie, Kerry Shannon, Kate Russell and Beth Heinrich as well as Rick Sibley who is making his ACT debut.   The set is designed by Jillian Summers, with lighting design by Jason Williams, and costume design by Linda Underwood.
